Enable Instant Checkout via the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP).

The Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) is an emerging open standard that enables AI agents to interact directly with e-commerce systems,  browsing products, initiating orders, and completing purchases on behalf of users without them ever leaving the AI interface. Think of it as the infrastructure layer that allows an AI assistant to not just recommend a product, but actually buy it for you in the same conversation.

It matters because AI-driven shopping is no longer a concept on the horizon, it’s being built right now. Platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others are actively developing agentic experiences where users delegate purchasing decisions to AI. Without ACP-compatible infrastructure in place, your brand simply isn’t transactable in those environments. You might get cited. You might even get recommended. But if the agent can’t complete the purchase, you’ve lost the sale at the finish line.

In an agentic commerce world, friction is the enemy. AI agents are optimized to complete tasks on behalf of users as smoothly as possible. If your checkout system isn’t built to accept agent-initiated requests, the agent will move on to a competitor whose system is. Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) gives you the technical handshake that makes your brand accessible, trustworthy, and convertible inside AI-driven shopping flows.

Here’s what to do:

1. Start by reading theofficial ACP documentation from start to finish. Before touching your website or checkout system, you need to understand how ACP works, what information it sends and expects back, and how AI agents communicate with it.

2. Add Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) checkout endpoints to your website. An endpoint is essentially a URL on your site that AI agents send purchase requests to. Your developer will need to build these so your site can receive an agent’s order request and respond with the right information — things like price, availability, and order confirmation.

3. Set up a secure login system specifically for AI agents. Regular customers log in with a username and password. Agents use tokens — think of them like a digital key card that grants limited, specific access. This step makes sure only trusted agents can place orders on your site and prevents unauthorized transactions.

4. Test the full purchase flow before going live. Use an Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP)-compatible AI agent to walk through a real transaction from product selection all the way to order confirmation. Treat it like a mystery shopper — find the problems before your customers do.

5. Track agent orders separately in your analytics. Once everything is live, make sure you can tell the difference between a customer who checked out normally and one where an AI agent completed the purchase. This lets you measure how well your Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) integration is performing and where you might need to improve it.

The result? When an AI agent is helping a user shop your category and decides which brand to transact with, your ACP-ready checkout becomes the path of least resistance. You’re not waiting to be discovered and hoping the user clicks through. You’re actively enabling the transaction to happen inside the AI experience itself.

This isn’t just a technical integration. It’s commerce infrastructure for the age of agentic AI. The brands that build ACP compatibility today are the ones that will show up, convert, and compound while others are still figuring out what ACP stands for.

Traditional checkout was built for browsers. ACP-ready checkout is built for agents. The brands winning in agentic commerce aren’t waiting for the standard to mature - they’re implementing it now.
