How Parsnipp measures AI search
Parsnipp works in three steps: see where a brand stands in AI answers, get a prioritized plan, then act on it across content, LLM ads and agentic commerce (How Parsnipp works). The measurement underneath is what sets it apart. Most AI visibility tools took the SEO playbook, swapped the word “keyword” for “prompt”, and ran single, one-line questions against each engine. Real people do not use AI that way. They describe their situation, add constraints, and ask follow-up questions, and the buying decision usually happens several turns in.
Customer personas
Parsnipp runs the same buying journey as different kinds of customer, each with its own context, needs and constraints, then compares what each persona is told. This is called persona-based querying. Two shoppers asking about the same category often get different recommendations, and a single generic prompt hides that. The personas are synthetic shoppers, and Parsnipp simulates their multi-turn conversations across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, and Muse (which engines a brand gets depends on its plan).
Multi-turn conversations
Instead of isolated prompts, Parsnipp’s prompt tracking follows prompt conversations: a sequence of questions and follow-ups that mirrors how a buyer narrows a decision. This captures the later, higher-intent turns where brands are shortlisted or dropped.
Mentions are not recommendations
Parsnipp tracks whether an assistant recommends a brand, not only whether it names it (AI recommendation rate). Its own research, published October 2026, ran 320 simulated shopper conversations about headphones under 150 US dollars on GPT-5.6 and Gemini 3.8 Flash, in two independent batches of 160. Of 960 brand mentions, 700 became a recommendation, so nearly three in ten never did. Bose was named in 82 answers and recommended in none. Answers stayed general until the shopper gave a budget, then the picks formed. Read the research.
Brand, category and competitor prompts
Conversations are split into three types: ones that name the brand, category questions that never name it (the truest test of whether an AI recommends you unprompted), and ones that name competitors. Each is reported separately.
Citations and sources
For every answer, Parsnipp records which sources the engine cited and which models used them, and groups them by type, such as earned media, the brand’s own site, review sites and ecommerce pages. That shows where a brand needs to earn a presence.
Refresh rate
Reports refresh daily on Core and Advanced plans. The Free plan includes three reports.
