What is Klarna's Agentic Product Protocol?
Definition
The Agentic Product Protocol is an open standard from Klarna that gives AI agents a live, structured product feed to search and compare, with current prices and availability. It covers the step before buying: knowing what exists. It doesn’t handle checkout or payment.
Also called: Klarna APP, Agentic Product Protocol

At a glance
- Announced by Klarna in December 2025.
- Klarna says it covers more than 100 million products, with 400 million prices across 13 markets.
- Accepts feeds merchants already have: Google Merchant, Shopify and Facebook catalogs, or plain CSV and JSON.
- Competes most directly with the product data side of ACP and UCP.
What it means for brands
It’s another place an agent might look up your products, and it works from feeds you probably already maintain. The same rule applies as everywhere else in agentic commerce: if your feed has wrong prices, missing specs or stale stock, that’s what agents will see.
How this term is used
Agentic commerce is early, and its terms and standards are still forming. It’s the commerce branch of AI search marketing, built on organic GEO / AEO visibility.
It’s one of several competing standards; agentic commerce protocols compares them side by side.
Frequently asked questions
-
Is it the same as Google Shopping or a product feed?
It uses the same kind of data, but it’s built for AI agents to query live rather than for ad listings. A clean product feed is still the starting point.
